What is a Functional Trainer?

Personal Training has become a household concept, but for those not in the industry, the term 'Functional Trainer' might not be so familiar.

In simple terms, a Functional Trainer is the next step up from a Personal Trainer, in terms of qualifications, knowledge and experience. This doesn't mean that we are only to be found training top athletes! It just means that we are so passionate about providing the best personal training for our clients, that we have continued our education to an advanced level in order to provide a better and more effective service to our clients.

A Functional Trainer improves a client's function and performance by assessing movement sequences at every joint, and muscle reactions.

In simple terms, this means that we will initially assess your body and how it works, then with corrective techniques, we will work with you to improve weak areas and optimize the overall performance of your body as a whole. Following this, your personal goals, be it weight loss, toning, rehabilitation from injury - will be met as a natural progression.

As a client, you can come to me with either a general or specific request. I have clients who just want to lose weight, tone up and improve their overall fitness; I have clients recovering from surgery or illness; and I have clients who simply want to improve their golf swing!

Functional Training is the most effective way to work out, no matter what your situation.
